ความเป็นมา ก่อตั้งขึ้นภายใต้การริเริ่มของ รศ.ดร.นิกร วัฒนพนม อดีตคณบดีคณะบริหารธุรกิจ สถาบันบัณฑิตพัฒนบริหารศาสตร์ โดยท่านได้ร่วมกับเพื่อนร่วมอุดมการณ์ และศิษย์เก่าทั้งในหลักสูตรภาคปกติ และ ภาคพิเศษ ท่านทั้งหลายเหล่านี้ ได้อุทิศกำลังกาย กำลังทรัพย์ และเสียสละเวลาอัน มีค่าเป็นอันมาก ในการเริ่มก่อตั้งสมาคมฯ เพื่อให้บรรดาศิษย์เก่าคณะบริหารธุรกิจ ได้มีสมาคมศิษย์เก่าของสถาบันที่คนรักและภาคภูมิใจ เช่นเดียวกับสถาบันการศึกษาชั้นสูงแห่งอื่น ๆ สมาคมฯ ได้รับอนุญาตให้จดทะเบียนเป็นนิติบุคคล เมื่อวันที่ 7 เมษายน พ.ศ. 2536 โดยจะมีการเลือกตั้งนายกสมาคมฯ โดยการลงคะแนนเสียงสมาชิก วาระละ 2 ปี
The Alumni Association was founded by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nikorn Watthanaphanom, Dean of Faculty of Business Administration National Institute of Development Administration. He had joined with his fellow and alumni in both regular and special programs. They had devoted their physical resources, financial resources and self-sacrifice which extreme valuable to found the association for alumni of the Faculty of Business Administration to have alumni association of institutions with love and pride like other higher education institutions. The Association was authorized to register as a juristic person on April 7, 1993, with the election of its president by members voting every 2 years.
