NENA is the organisation informing, connecting, and cross-pollinating an Australian network tapping into local and global economic and sustainable futures thinking. NENA stands for New Economy Network Australia.
In an age of disinformation and misinformation, NENA's setup and membership model reduces degrees of separation between a person, and trusted advisors.
As a cooperative established in 2019, and practicing distributed governance, our members are interested in everything that could help change the current economic models.
NENA Values diversity of thought, expertise, and the lived experience of individuals and organisations working to transform Australia’s economic system.
NENA Reputed for helping shape the trusted national conversation on approaches to new economic systems. Ecological health and social justice are foundational principles and primary objectives.
NENA Facilitates connections, showcases and promotes innovative projects while offering peer-to-peer learning. Collectively weaves a strong movement of people demanding, creating and benefiting from a ‘new’ economy.
Many different movements have emerged around the world focused on the concept of a ‘new economy’. Although they use different names, such as the Wellbeing Economy, Social Economy, Solidarity Economy, Doughnut Economics, Sharing Economy, Collaborative Economy, Steady State Economy, Gift Economy, Community Economy, Regenerative Economy, they seem to share two key goals: (i) to challenge the current dominant system with its reliance on fossil fuels, large scale resource extraction and socially unjust structures and wealth distribution, and (ii) to create and strengthen diverse economies that serve the needs of people in ways that are socially just, culturally diverse and ecologically sustainable.
