Description
On June 27, 1989, NCT Transnational Corp. (formerly Transnational Shipping Services Inc.) was created as a wholly owned subsidiary of TDC to provide services such as chassis management and truck leasing only for NYK Shipping Lines. On April 15, 1996, the company's name was changed to Transnational All Transport Services Corp. (TATSCOR). TATSCOR was formed on July 17, 1997, as a joint venture partnership between the Nippon Container Terminal Co. Ltd. Japan and TDC, where it has a license to operate not only as a transport service provider but also as a container depot operator. NCTTC was in charge of NYK's Chassis Leasing and Trucking Operations at the time. In May 1999, the joint venture was restructured to include NYK Fil-Japan Shipping Corp. as a partner.
NCTTC's involvement in a variety of industries enabled it to recognize its strengths, which led to a gradual shift in its business model. NCTTC bravely began modifying its business model in 2009 by deciding to transfer its Car Carrier Operations to other business divisions, followed by the closure of its Trucking Operations in June 2013. These were daring measures that NCTTC believed would help it maintain its core and robust businesses, Container Operations and Chassis Leasing. The sale of NCTTC's operations in Car Carrier and Trucking, as well as the shift in focus to Container and Chassis Operations, resulting in higher revenues and lower maintenance and other expenses that were previously present.
