Description

My Community is a non-profit organisation which documents social memories, celebrates civic life and champions community arts and heritage. It advocates for greater community involvement in cultural management and urban governance, and works to transform community spaces through the arts, culture and heritage.

The organisation was founded by Kwek Li Yong and Jasper Tan in 2008 and formally registered as a society on 26th August 2010. On 12th December 2015, it was registered as a charity under the Charities Act. A year later it was minted as an Institution of a Public Character.

My Community is supported by an army of 500 volunteers who work with its nimble team of staff to organise guided tours, exhibitions, festivals and other arts, heritage and placemaking programmes in Queenstown and beyond. Over 13 years, more than 1,000 guided walks have been put together and more than 30,000 individuals from all walks of life have been engaged. My Community’s stable of projects also includes Singapore's first ground-up museum in Tanglin Halt where the organisation is now headquartered.

My Community established an executive arm in 2019 to manage its growing portfolio of community heritage programmes conducted in partnership with public, private and civil society organisations. A team of individuals, passionate about people and places, have since come onboard to usher in a new chapter of growth.
