There is a direct correlation between remoteness and chronic illness with more than 60% of people living in remote communities suffering from chronic illness and more than 63% of people not sufficiently physically active.

Indigenous Australians have an average life expectancy nearly 9 years less than non-Indigenous Australians which is a critical "Close the Gap" statistic that has not improved since it became an annual KPI in 2007. Sadly, the life expectancy of Indigenous Australians in remote communities is almost 15 years less than the average non-Indigenous Australian.
