Since opening in 2008 Mountford Architects have been quietly developing a unique aesthetic that combines a regional focus with international sensibility. This approach is drawn from our passion for the best local modern architecture, the promotion of sustainable building practices and a focus on refining the built object for both the end users and the context in which it is chosen.
Based in the heart of Perth’s Northbridge precinct and with working space in now Surry Hills Sydney, our thriving practice prides itself on thoughtful, high-quality architectural solutions for residential projects.
The homes and buildings we create are focussed on the needs and lifestyles of the people living and working within them. Architectural briefs are unique and multifaceted; therefore, our approach evolves and adapts accordingly. We always enjoy sharing this process with our clients whether it’s from the first sketches and 3D models right through to the finished projects, allowing clients to see their dreams as they are being realised.
Our latest projects include new homes in Attadale and Dalkeith, alterations, and additions from Claremont to North Perth and recent commissions from outside of Hobart and the Northern Beaches of Sydney. We are proud to have been profiled in both local and international design publications and recognised at the West Australian Architecture Awards on numerous occasions.
Responsible for building the reputation of the practice which is known for design excellence, is founding director Ben Mountford who has over 15 years’ experience in high-end single residential development, alterations and additions and mixed-use residential projects both in Sydney and Perth. In addition, Ben combines his years of architectural training and practice with a grass roots knowledge of the construction process, his career beginning as a builder’s apprentice in his home town of Sydney.
