Description
Monika's Doggie Rescue is a DGR charity, based on Sydney's Northern Beaches, that has been rescuing and re-homing dogs and cats from council pounds since 2001. CEO Monika Biernacki received an OAM in 2021 in recognition of her outstanding commitment to animal rescue.
In 2007 we moved into our current location in Ingleside on Sydney's Northern Beaches.
We are a No-Kill Shelter, which means once we have rescued a dog (or cat), that dog stays with us until it is rehomed. Our only criteria for rescuing from pounds is that we have space. We take dogs with significant physical and behavioural issues which can take time and considerable expense to resolve.
To date we have rescued and rehomed over 13,700 dogs and over 500 cats. DoggieRescue relies on donations from the public to help fund the staggering costs of running a shelter. These donations are via our monthly giving programs, one off donations, bequests and Partnerships.
Monika's DoggieRescue is largely run by volunteers, many of whom have been involved with the Charity for decades.
In order to better support the growing need for our services, we offer Corporate/ Business Partnerships, Corporate Volunteer Days and a Legacy Pet program called Forever Homed.
