The history of Michel André, a humbling and teaching journey as it started with 5 sewing machines and then expanded its operations through out The Philippines. It started out as a sole proprietor named M2 Needlecraft Enterprises in 1987 and was incorporated as M2 Creative Inc. in 1994. Through the years, operations steadily grew due to its consistent high quality sewing workmanship.
By 1990, it exported ladies garments to Japan and on 1994, it exported infants and children’s wear to the USA. The brand name, Michel André was first introduced in 1991 and sold formal suits and casual woven polos to SM stores. In 1994, it began to change its business model and started retailing the brand as a concessionaire in different Philippine department stores; selling its own line of men’s formal wear. The company also manufactured and supplied men’s casual wear to well-known local brands such as Bench and men’s formal wear such as executive shirts and suits to Attitudes, and Rustan’s house brand’s MR and Oleg Cassini.
In 2011, it became a family-owned corporation as the company was named M5 Mart Inc.
In 2014, the brands Michel André and Don Miguel has reached its peak and sold up to 97 department stores nationwide in The Philippines.
