Mekong Development Research Institute (MDRI) is an independent scientific research agency. At MDRI, we believe that research plays an indispensable role in the development process.
Mission: To impart knowledge through research and consulting services.
Vision: MDRI strives to become the leading research institute in policy and development in the Mekong region, where our high quality research would make significant contributions towards regional development.
The Institute was founded by a group of researchers and consultants who have rich experience and renowned expertise. MDRI aspires to help open Vietnamese economy to countries with similar socio-economic conditions through the following areas of focus: Development Economics, Trade, Social Issues, Environment and Climate Change, Sector and Market Research, Survey and Data Management, and Governance.
Through leading and participating multiple projects, MDRI members have brought forward meaningful and valuable research and consulting products, part of which were published in internationally renowned journals including American Economic Journal, World Development, Health Economic Journal, The Quarterly Review of Economics and Finance, etc; others were available under forms of consulting reports, policy briefs used for the Government leaders and presented in national and international conferences.
MDRI has established strong partnership with internationally renowned research institutes and universities with similar academia fields. We are also entrusted by a strong and prominent board of advisors, consisting of outstanding international and local researchers, and policy makers in the development fields.
MDRI is ranked No.1 among economic institutions in Vietnam and is among the top 17% of 12,700 economic institutes in the world by IDEAS: Economics and Finance Research.
