Description
Our purpose is to support clinicians and allied professionals to improve the wellbeing of all people affected by sexual harm and abuse and to lead the sector in best practice through advocacy.
Medical Sexual Assault Clinicians Aotearoa (MEDSAC) is the acknowledged Aotearoa New Zealand expert body in sexual assault/abuse and non-fatal strangulation/suffocation medicine.
It is recognised as such by the Ministry of Health, Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) and New Zealand Police, as well as by the Health and Disability Commissioner and international bodies such as the World Health Organisation.
We are a charitable trust with over 450 expert clinician and allied professional members.
MEDSAC provides training, accreditation, peer support and resources (including publications and online modules) for clinicians providing medical and forensic care to those affected by sexual assault and non-fatal strangulation/suffocation.
