Founded in 2017, Jack’s Butterflies is an Australia Charity registered with the ACNC and endorsed by the ATO; thereby offering tax deductible donations to our supporters. We are also an NDIS registered service Provider providing in-home support, community participation, short term accommodation, respite and community nursing. We are also a proud member of Rare Voices Australia promoting, educating and advocating for families affected by a Rare Disease.
AS AN ADVOCATE AND PROVIDER OF SUPPORTS Jack’s Butterflies’ range of services and assistance looks to not just assist rare disease children and their families with everyday challenges, but also to equip them with the support to extend their lives beyond the daily isolation and confines of hospitals, social services and their own homes. Our eventual goal is to provide a comprehensive network of services geared towards improving quality of lives and the relationships that surround them.
SO, WHAT IS A RARE DISEASE?
Rare diseases are life-threatening or chronically debilitating conditions that affect a small percentage of the population. Rare diseases are complex and often need special treatments.
There are more than 10,000 rare diseases or genetic disorders affecting 8% of the population (an estimated 1.5 million Australians). Around 400,000 of those are children and most of these children will pass away during their childhood.
One of our goals is to raise the profile of what a rare disease is within the community. We want to build the support network for these families and do what we can to aid our medical teams as they fight daily to help our children.
We are always looking for similar minded passionate people to join the board. If you are interested, please get in touch with the President at secretary@jacksbutterfllies.org.au.
If you are looking for a career change and would like to join us, you can get in touch with our CEO at hr.jacksbutterflies.org.au.
