IT Heavy Hitters is an annual charity boxing event, taking IT professionals out of their chairs and into the ring. The events run as a fundraiser for suicide prevention charities, following the 2013 suicide of Upper Hutt boxing coach Doug McLay.
IT Heavy Hitters came on to the scene to raise awareness of suicide as a problem in New Zealand, as well as raising much needed funds for a charity working on reducing the number of suicides in NZ to zero, the only acceptable number.
