Description

The IIEE began accrediting Electrical Engineering student organizations as early as 1982 during the term of its National President, Engr. Calixto F. Duran, Jr. In response to the clamor of the growing Electrical Engineering student organizations to be accredited as chapters of the IIEE, the Institute officially opened its doors to Electrical Engineering students on May 23, 1987, at the University of Santo Tomas under the leadership of Student Affairs Committee Chairperson Engr. Fe M. Barrientos and Co-Chairperson, Engr. Antonio S. Herrera, Jr. Thus, the creation of the student arm of the IIEE – the Council of Student Chapters (CSC).

The IIEE believed that the Electrical Engineering and Electrical Technology student is the greatest resource for future leaders and members of the Institute. Therefore, the students should be familiarized with the various activities of the Institute while still in college. The CSC serves as a link to the national organization of Electrical Engineers and Master Electricians affecting a channel of communication of vital information and technical know-how in the field of Electrical Engineering and related disciplines that are of interest to the students.

The Council serves over 16,000 members from 146 affiliated schools from different regions of the country.
