Description

First established on August 8, 1988, the Philippine National Committee of ICOMOS is a cultural heritage organization which promotes applied research, theory, and scientific methodology for the conservation and protection of architectural landmarks, monuments, heritage landscapes, and archaeological sites in the Philippines. The organizations works towards a future that better manages change in heritage sites, so succeeding generations enjoy authentic experiences of cultural heritage properties in the country.

ICOMOS is an international NGO that works for the conservation and protection of cultural heritage places. Its network of over 10,000 expert members from 132 countries, represented through national committees and international scientific committees contribute to improving preservation of the world’s heritage sites. It is an advisory body to UNESCO on matters of world heritage.

MISSION-VISION STATEMENT The Philippine National Committee of ICOMOS envisions a Philippine heritage practice that is celebrated and preserved through the highest standards. It aims to be the vehicle in elevating local heritage protection and preservation towards international standards, and in harmony with the local context.

OBJECTIVES ICOMOS Philippines is geared towards providing and facilitating necessary information transfer/exchange to help the preservation movement progress. It also aims to make heritage conservation a mainstream sustainable development issue.
