Description

The Ian Frazer Centre for Children’s Immunotherapy Research (IFCCIR) is Australia’s first dedicated children’s immunotherapy research centre, established in August 2022 with the generous support of the Children’s Hospital Foundation. We are a multidisciplinary team of scientists, clinicians, and researchers dedicated to advancing immunotherapy for childhood cancers and immune-related diseases.

Our key projects include PICA (Paediatric Immune Cell Atlas for Children’s Immunotherapy Innovation), which aims to establish a reference database of immune cells from healthy and children with immune-related diseases to support tailored immunotherapies, and PICVac (Personal Immunity-guided Cancer Vaccine for Paediatric Cancer), a personalised mRNA cancer vaccine project that harnesses a child’s own immune system to fight tumours. We also collaborate with our partners on a range of cutting-edge immunotherapy research, including the development of novel cell therapies.

IFCCIR is led by The University of Queensland in collaboration with Children’s Hospital Foundation, Children’s Health Queensland, and QIMR Berghofer, and is based at the Centre for Children's Health Research (CCHR) in South Brisbane, Queensland’s first fully integrated research facility for child and adolescent health.
