Universitas Pertamina (UP) was established based on Decree (SK) Minister of Research, Technology and Higher Education No. 60 / KPT / I / 2016 issued on February 1, 2016. Meanwhile, the inauguration of the university was conducted on February 11, 2016 by the Minister of Research, Technology, and High Pendidkan and President Director of PT. Pertamina (Persero) which was supported by the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises and Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources.

The establishment of UP as PT. Pertamina (Persero) contribution to the public through higher education. UP was founded in the spirit into world-class universities in the field of business and energy technology.
