Before the Vietnam's independence on September 2, 1945 the University of Transport and Communications has its predecessor, the College of Public Works. The university was reopened under the Democratic Republic of Vietnam on Nov. 15, 1945. November 15th is the annual tradition of the university.

On March 24, 1962, Prime Minister Pham Van Dong signed the Decision No. 42 / CP establishing the University of Transport and Communications. March 24 is the founding date of the university.

University of Transport and Communications (UTC or UCT) is a public university in the fields of engineering, transportation and economics.

Giới thiệu:

Trường Đại học Giao thông Vận tải ngày nay có tiền thân là trường Cao đẳng Công chính trước khi đất nước giành được độc lập 2/9/1945 và được khai giảng lại dưới chính thể Việt Nam Dân chủ Cộng hòa ngày 15/11/1945. Ngày 15/11 hàng năm được lấy là ngày Truyền thống của Trường.

Ngày 24/3/1962 Thủ tướng Phạm Văn Đồng ký quyết định số 42/CP thành lập Trường Đại học Giao thông Vận tải, Ngày 24/3 được lấy làm ngày Thành lập Trường.
