Pusat Halal atau sebelumnya dikenal sebagai Pusat Riset dan Pengembangan Produk Halal Universitas Airlangga (PRPPH UNAIR) dibentuk untuk menjalankan fungsi sebagai Halal Research Center (Pusat Kajian Halal) sekaligus Halal Center, guna mendukung peran aktif institusi perguruan tinggi, khususnya dalam bidang penelitian dan pengabdian kepada masyarakat.

Eksistensi PRPPH UNAIR (Halal Center UNAIR) dikukuhkan oleh Surat Keputusan Rektor Nomor 1305/UN3/2017 tentang Pembentukan Pusat Riset dan Pengembangan Produk Halal Universitas Airlangga. Kemudian dikukuhkan kembali pada tahun 2022 melalui Surat Keputusan Rektor Nomor 1014/UN3/2022 dengan nama Pusat Halal Universitas Airlangga.

Sejak tahun 2017, Pusat Halal UNAIR telah menjalankan 17 Proyek Riset Unggulan Unit Kerja yang dikelola oleh internal Universitas. Selain itu, kami juga aktif dalam berbagai kegiatan pengembangan ekosistem halal, baik regional maupun nasional, serta aktif mengikuti forum-forum ilmiah internasional.
