Greater Whitsunday Communities (GWC) is the peak regional body and a registered social enterprise dedicated to empowering Mackay, Isaac, and Whitsunday communities.
Our vision is a thriving Greater Whitsundays, empowered for sustainable growth across generations.
Our Purpose is to transform communities into resilient and thriving places where individuals live their best lives through innovative initiatives and collective action. This is via Focus Areas of housing, youth development, a regional liveability roadmap and empowered community voice and connectivity.
It is our responsibility to empower Communities through grassroots action and fostering community ownership and decision-making. We also:
- Lead Social Impact by driving positive change through impactful projects and initiatives.
- Facilitate Collaboration via building partnerships among individuals, communities, industry, and government.
- Strengthen Regional Capacity by enhancing skills and capabilities of local organisations and groups.
- Championing Advocacy by serving as an independent, trusted voice on social and community development issues.
GWC's Consultancy Services enable us, as a Social Enterprise, to reinvest revenue back into community development initiatives across our region. Our key services include:
- Organisational Capability Support - strategic planning, governance, risk assessment & HR.
- Community Consultation - stakeholder engagement & independent mediation.
- Capacity Building - training programs & resource development
- Research & Report Writing, Community Research & Comprehensive Reporting
