Description
The Gonstead Chiropractic Society (Australia) Inc. was founded in 1990 to promote the Gonstead System of Chiropractic in Australia through undergraduate and postgraduate educational courses and seminars, newsletters and journals, and research.
Since 1990, the Society has conducted regular seminars with staff from the Gonstead Clinic in Mt Horeb, USA, the USA Gonstead Seminar Staff and Fellows and Diplomates of GCS (Australia). Typically two major seminars are held each year. The March seminar is presented by the GCS (Australia) Fellows and Diplomates and its location alternates between Sydney and Melbourne. Historically, the August seminar is presented by the USA Gonstead Seminar staff with the assistance of Australian Diplomates and Fellows. Its location also alternates between Sydney and Melbourne. We have been extremely fortunate to have regular presentations from Dr Alex Cox, Dr John Cox, Dr Bill Droessler (and other Gonstead Seminar USA staff on occasions).
GCS (Australia) was involved with the establishment of the teaching of the Gonstead syllabus at the Centre for Chiropractic, Macquarie University and the Chiropractic Unit, Department of Chiropractic, Osteopathy and Complimentary Medicine, RMIT University and at the newly formed Australia Chiropractic College in Adelaide. Gonstead is also now taught at New Zealand College of Chiropractic as part of the core syllabus. The Society regularly runs workshops for students from Macquarie University, RMIT, Murdoch University and New Zealand College of Chiropractic. Regular small group workshops are also conducted regionally for chiropractors and students by Diplomates. The Society aims to support the acquisition of skills and knowledge of its members in an environment that is welcoming and encourages comradeship. We conduct mentoring, training and examination for experienced chiropractors wishing to advance their education and skills and obtain Ambassador and later Diplomate Status in the Gonstead system.
