Born out of the World Economic Forum, the Global Shapers Community is a network of inspiring young people under the age of 30 working together to address local, regional, and global challenges. With more than 10,000 members, the Global Shapers Community spans 425 city-based hubs in 154 countries. In each city, teams of Shapers self-organize to create projects that address the needs of their community.
Projects are wide-ranging including responding to disasters, combating poverty, and fighting climate change. Shapers are diverse in expertise, education, income, and race, but are united by their desire to catalyse change.
The Global Shapers Gold Coast hub meets on the traditional lands of the Yugambeh peoples (Logan City, Gold Coast, Scenic Rim, and Tweed City regions of Australia).
Situated in Southeast Queensland, the Gold Coast stretches along 57 kilometres of coastline and is home to over half a million people. It is known for being a leading tourism, business, and events city boasting the best beaches and arguably one of the best lifestyles in the world.
The Gold Coast catchment areas symbolise a place where Global Shapers Gold Coast members live, work or play, and as an action-oriented team, we are drawn together by a common desire to create an impact in the areas of climate change, health and aspects that shape the future of our city.
