Description
Most Catholics in Singapore probably did not know that 3 Priests were beheaded in Korea for their faith in 1839, that were linked to the introduction of the Catholic faith in Singapore back in 1821.
In memory of Saint Laurent Imbert who came to Singapore in 1921; quoted from St. John's Gospel: "The Good Shepherd lay down his life for his sheep" before his execution, the Cathedral of the Good Shepherd was named for his ultimate sacrifice for his love of Jesus Christ, his church and his faith
Today, we live in harmonious and a very safe Singapore. No one is going to behead or prosecute us for living our faith. No one is going to ask us to make an ultimate sacrifice like those of Jesus and Bishop Imbert. Very often the only sacrifices we'd ever need to make is for our family and ourselves.
But Jesus gave us a commandment to build His church. To make disciples of all nations. To give all of our talents, time and resources for His Church.
To become Stewards of His Gifts.
To Steward the Denarii of our times.
To Steward the churches Jesus has built since St. Peter, the First Bishop of Rome. Just like Bishop Imbert's ultimate sacrifice eventually championed and steward the funding and building of the first Catholic church at Queen Street.
If we, but believe, that ALL of our resources (including money), time and talents are from God, then ALL of our resources, time and talents shall one day return to God.
We came with nothing, we shall return with nothing, except for the Love for Jesus.
This community of Stewards, believe in sharing and giving of our resources, time and talent for Jesus' church.
We believe that "God's love can multiply the effects of our generosity" (Matthew 14: 13 - 21) for ONE ANOTHER and for OUR CHURCHES.
We offer people THE chance to invest a small part of what they have in THE good work of GOD!
