The investment project of the Formosa Ha Tinh Steel Corporation (FHS) is located within the Vung Ang Economic Zone (VAEC) of Ha Tinh province in north central Vietnam. Moreover, the Son Duong port, a part of FHS is located in the middle of shipping line in Eastern Asia which means standing on a vantage point of ship routes in Asia and the rest of the globe. Planning, building and operating at this location will be advantageous when importing the raw materials and in exporting steel products. The competitive advantages are as follows: the steel market, the geographical location, the national policies in Vietnam, the preferential tariffs in ASEAN, etc., FHS is investing 10.5 billion USD to establish an integrated steel mill with an annual capacity of 7.1 illion tons of crude steel in phase I and the Son Duong deep water port within the VAEC of Ha Tinh province, Vietnam. FHS will center around Ha Tinh province, combining the correlatively midstream and downstream industries and at the same time developing prosperously the industrial chain in the VAEC and neighboring towns as an upcoming strategic site in the international steel industry.
