FOCUS-R is a community-based research study on stress and stress management. The study is conducted by researchers at The University of Newcastle, gathering data from everyday Australians about their experiences with stress.
It’s important to manage stress.
Stress is a known contributor to a number of poor health outcomes. Chronic, ongoing exposure to stress can increase the risk of cardiovascular disease and psychological disorders. This is why we are increasingly being told about the importance of managing our stress.
Despite the potential consequences associated with untreated stress, there is a lack of research directly asking our local community members about their experiences with stress, and how to manage it.
How FOCUS-R is helping.
We understand the negative impact stress can have on everyday life, and that is why we want to invite you to participate in this research, to help us understand what stress you tend to experience, and what stress management looks like for you.
We want to hear from you about what works, what doesn’t work, and understand your journey with stress. You will take part in a regular fortnightly survey, where your responses will contribute to vital research to help further our understanding of stress management techniques that actually work. This is a participatory study with anonymity and consent at the forefront of everything we do, we look to share (only if you give us permission!) anonymous information about stress management techniques using our platform, and feed it back into our research as soon as possible.
