Founded in 1974 as the "Friends of Challinor Aid League", Focal began as a collection of individuals, passionate about improving outcomes for people living in institutional care at Challinor Centre in Ipswich.
In its early years, Focal championed equal pension rights for residents of such institutions, paving the way towards equality for Queenslanders with disability.
Today, Focal continues to be a source of social connection and support for children and adults with disability, their families, and carers. Our programs are designed to promote maximum personal and social independence by enabling community participation and building capacity.
