Description
Foreign Language Specialized School (Vietnamese: Phổ Thông Chuyên Ngoại ngữ), commonly known as FLSS or CNN, is a national public specialized high school in Vietnam. FLSS has the function of discovering and fostering gifted students to achieve excellent results in learning; training students with good foreign languages, fostering foreign language talents for the country. The School is responsible to deliver comprehensive education and fully implement comprehensive education plans and programs in accordance with the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, Vietnam National University (VNU) and University of Languages and International Studies (ULIS).
FLSS is recognized for its strong academic programs and its large percentage (98% to 100%) of graduates attending the most prestigious universities in Vietnam and abroad. Admission to FLSS is by competitive examination only, consisting of three parts: one on declared foreign language, one on mathematics and natural science subjects, and one on literature and social science subjects. For the language exams, except for English, others require an interview round beside the written tests. FLSS is one of the most selective high schools in Vietnam with an acceptance rate of 1/9.2 in 2017.
