Flame Security International (FSI) invents and develops protective products and services for three global markets – fire protection, solar energy and Defence. All FSI products are designed for minimal environmental impact while achieving global certifications for safety and fire-retardancy.
Flame Security International (FSI) traces its origins back to 2006 in Sweden. FSI’s Swedish shareholders originally developed and sold a flame retardant textile product to IKEA in Älmhult to protect carpets and textile wall hangings in its show rooms. A version of this textile product was also used to protect the huge straw Gavle Goat from multiple arson attempts during this famous annual Christmas festival held in central Gävle, Sweden. During 2017, the Australian founders of FSI joined with the Swedish founders to create a new business headquartered at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) in Sydney, Australia. UNSW and FSI established a substantial R&D team dedicated to a wide range of fire detection, suppression and protection products.
FSI has teamed up with world class UNSW PhD chemical, material and fire engineers, plus a range of State Governments, other research institutions, industry partners, manufacturers and distributers to invent and commericalise fire protection products.
This has been made possible by FSI investors who are principally Australian, Swedish and US sophisticated investors; along with substantial grant support from the Australian government. See more at Rounds 5,6, & 8 at the Australian Government Cooperative Research Centres Project (CRC-P) Selection.
