The First Nations Economic Empowerment Alliance (Alliance) is an association of First Nations-led organisations, Australian Government statutory authorities and First Nations experts with responsibilities and expertise related to First Nations economic rights and interest and research.
Established in 2023 as an outcome of extensive deliberative dialogues and research, we believe economic empowerment must be rooted in the inherent rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the original owners and custodians of Australia’s lands and waters. It must honour and protect our cultural practices, languages, values, and ways of life, ensuring our distinct identity as First Peoples is respected and sustained.
We are advocating for a shift toward strong First Nations economic policy—rooted in opportunity, participation and investment— to unlock prosperity for individuals, communities and the nation as a whole.
