Description

The Farming Our Futures Cooperative (FoF) is a community-driven initiative uniting farmers, educators, social enterprises, and residents to co-design the future of regenerative and inclusive agriculture in Gippsland. Operating collaboratively, FoF develops sustainable models that enhance soil health, biodiversity, circular resource flows, and social inclusion. The cooperative empowers local communities to engage in the clean and circular economy through hands-on training, enterprise incubation, and regional demonstration projects that showcase best practice in regenerative farming and innovation.

Mission:

To build a connected ecosystem of people and place—supporting the shift from extractive agriculture toward regenerative systems that restore landscapes, empower rural communities, and create meaningful work and learning pathways for future generations.

Vision:

FoF aims to explore, implement, and scale sustainable, regenerative, and socially responsible farming practices that generate training and employment for youth, transitioning communities, and individuals from diverse backgrounds. The goal is to establish a replicable model for other regions and advocate for improved agricultural systems nationwide.

FoF operates through five pillars:

1/Regenerative Land Management – Restoring soil and biodiversity through carbon farming, water-sensitive design, and renewable energy integration.

2/Education, Training & Pathways – Building accredited learning and employment opportunities through TAFEs, universities, and on-farm labs.

3/Social Inclusion & Employment – Partnering with social enterprises to create inclusive jobs and wellbeing programs.

4/Circular Economy & Innovation – Turning waste into value via composting, biogas, and bio-based product development.

5/Advocacy & Systems Change – Representing farmers and sharing lessons to influence fair, future-focused agricultural policy.
