Description
Awalnya Fakultas Ilmu Komunikasi bernama Akademi Sinematografi, didirikan oleh Yayasan Lembaga Pendidikan Muslimin Bandung pada 1 Juni 1979. Selanjutnya, melalui Keputusan Menteri P dan K, tanggal 26 Juni 1982, No. 0211/U/1982, Akademi Sinematografi dikembangkan menjadi Fakultas Ilmu Komunikasi (Fikom) yang diprakarsai MO Palapah, Drs. dengan dasar pemikiran bahwa sinematografi yang melingkupi perfilman bisa dimasukkan ke dalam disiplin Ilmu Komunikasi – di bawah Universitas Islam Bandung (UNISBA).
Ketika diresmikan sebagai sebuah fakultas pada 7 Juni 1983 oleh Menteri Penerangan RI (H Harmoko), Fikom Unisba sebagai perguruan tinggi swasta bidang komunikasi pertama di Jawa Barat, khususnya di Kota Bandung. Pada mulanya, Ilmu Komunikasi dikembangkan menjadi tiga jurusan, yaitu Ilmu Jurnalistik, Ilmu Hubungan Masyarakat (Humas), dan Ilmu Penerangan.
Fakultas Ilmu Komunikasi Universitas Islam Bandung kini memiliki tiga Program Studi yaitu, S1 Ilmu Komunikasi, S2 Ilmu Komunikasi, dan S3 Ilmu Komunikasi.
Program Studi S1 Ilmu Komunikasi memiliki peminatan di bidang; Ilmu Jurnalistik, Public Relation, dan Manajemen Komunikasi.
Program Studi S2 Ilmu Komunikasi memiliki peminatan di bidang; Komunikasi Politik, Komunikasi Bisnis, Komunikasi Kesehatan dan Komunikasi Pendidikan.
