Description
The Faculty of Dentistry at Universiti Malaya (UM) is the leading, top-notch, and oldest dental school in Malaysia. The roots of teaching of dentistry at Universiti of Malaya has a long history that can be traced back to the establishment of the Dental Department at the King Edward VII College of Medicine in the Federation of Malaya (1927-1949) and Department of Dentistry at Universiti Malaya in Singapore (1949-1961). Later on, this department became part of the University of Singapore (1962-1980) following the Legislation passed in 1961. The new Dental Faculty of the University of Malaya was reestablished in Kuala Lumpur in 1971.
Since 1994, the Faculty of Dentistry, Universiti Malaya has served as a centre for various examinations conducted by The Royal College of Surgeons of England. The school offers a wide range of clinical and research master's and doctoral degrees. It is continuously dedicated to strengthening all aspects of teaching and learning, patient care, and research and innovation activities.
The vision of the Faculty of Dentistry, Universiti Malaya, is to be the centre of excellence in oral health science, education and research, and to function as a catalyst to promote learning and research in dentistry.
The mission is to be premier faculty in providing a high standard of training and research to produce caring dental professionals with holistic approach.
