Extra•Ordinary People is a charity with Institution of Public Character (IPC) status aiming to support families with Special Needs children in Singapore through community-supported initiatives.
At Extra•Ordinary People, our mission is to support every family with special needs in Singapore through community-supported initiatives.
We began our journey with the special needs community through the performing arts. Our signature event, An Extra•Ordinary Celebration, is Singapore’s largest inclusive concert. In 2019, we had over 900 local and international differently abled performers on stage!
Over the years, EPL expanded to offer therapy and caregiver support services, supporting the developmental growth of children and youth with special needs.
Under our Shining Stars Integrated Programme, Special Needs community will be prepped with daily living and 21st century skills through art and play. Those aged 18 years and above are kept meaningfully occupied through supported employment and various projects like Creative Lab and Extra•Ordinary Orange Enzyme, which nurtures artists and finds platforms to exhibit and market their works.
Our BE. Programme imparts caregivers with techniques to build resilience and reduce stress. We are also organisers of An Extra•Ordinary Celebration, Singapore’s largest inclusive concert featuring differently abled talents in the performing arts.
The Integrated Programme (Family-Centred Support for Community-Based Integration) aims to support both family caregivers and PWDs as they seek to transit into the post-18 space, focusing on individualised supports based on each family’s circumstances and needs. The programme offers holistic support that targets both PWDs and family caregivers. The family-centred intervention is transdisciplinary, focusing on play, arts, as well as more traditional community-based and employment-based supports to support families as they transit into the community.
