Description
The Engineering Associates Registration Board - Hiranga Tohu is New Zealand's statutory registration authority for engineering technicians, engineering technologists and allied engineering science professionals. Those suitably qualified and with verified experience are recognised with the Registered Engineering Associate (REA) credential.
The Board was established by the Engineering Associates Act 1961. The Board first met in 1962. The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) administers the act with the Minister for Building and Construction being the responsible minister.
The Board's activities are non-governmental and independent of MBIE. Since the first application in 1962 there have been in excess of 6700 applications.
