Description

The Doxa Youth Foundation is a community-based organisation which was established by Father Joe Giacobbe in 1972. Our vision is that all children and young people have the opportunity to achieve.

Our purpose is to share knowledge, skills and experience with disadvantaged children and young people, empowering them to realise their full potential.

CADETSHIPS

The DOXA CADETSHIP is a unique youth assistance programme that identifies high achieving secondary graduates who, despite their circumstances, have reached their primary goal of a place in university. For them, the personal and educational support that they received in secondary school ends upon completion, and they are cast into university to fend for themselves. Our participants face not just financial, but social and peer support challenges. Challenges that can be particularly difficult and a very real barrier to success. We work to prevent the potential of these talented young people being lost through lack of opportunity.

Since commencing in 1993, over 400 people have come through the programme and launched their careers. We have partnered with more than 160 businesses. Businesses who partner with us have all shown a deep commitment to corporate social responsibility, driven by the opportunity to help. Each of those organisations have had a high-calibre young individual embedded in their workplace who brings enthusiasm, fresh thinking, current knowledge and very often a future employee. Most would say the benefits far outweigh the cost.

CAMPS

Doxa provides a range of camping programmes for children and young people in both city and bushland settings.

We are all about campers having fun and learning while creating special childhood memories.

We want every child to be able to access the growth opportunities offered by camping experiences. We provide quality and affordable camps for schools in disadvantaged communities year-round and for children from less affluent families over the summer break.
