Description

The Consumer Policy Research Centre (CPRC) was established in December 2016 as a new, independent, broad-based consumer research centre established by the Victorian Government to drive policy and practice changes to benefit consumers. CPRC undertakes and coordinates research and policy development on consumer protection issues and monitors grassroots consumer issues.

CPRC works collaboratively across industry, government, academia and the community sectors, undertaking research and developing evidence-based recommendations for change. We value diversity of thought and experience in aiming to solve what can sometimes be complex policy problems.

The organisation was formed from the former Consumer Utilities Advocacy Centre, given a broadened remit and a greater focus on evidence-based research. It now undertakes research and policy analysis in the areas of housing, Australian Consumer Law and essential services.
