"Don't destroy what you came to enjoy" is our famous yet simple message -- guiding our commitment to celebrating and preserving our spectacular coastline
HISTORY Coastwatch was founded by Ken "Brownie" Brown -- who spent most of his life on or in the water, surfing, fishing, running marlin charters and in general living the coastal life. For 17 years, "Brownie" worked for Channel 7 Brisbane producing and presenting over 300 Coastwatch shows, doing thousands of live cross Coastwatch Reports for 7 News; 30 years providing Coastwatch reports for 4KQ; and for many years, provided a Coastwatch page for the Courier and Sunday Mail newspapers, among numerous others. Brownie retired in 2021, handing over the helm of Coastwatch.
In 2024, Coastwatch was acquired by a syndicate led by Regent Road and Ospreyo Platform Ventures, bringing together an experienced team passionate about Coastwatch and all things coastal. Coastwatch 2.0 builds on the shoulders of its history; reviving, renewing and expanding the Coastwatch offering in an exciting new era.
