Currently, we have four farms at the municipalities of Tayasan and Ayungon in Negros Oriental. Both are located at the heart of the province and is only 2-hour drive away from the capital city, Dumaguete.
The 1st farm (Alpha Farm) is about 12 hectares of fertile land located at Barangay Tambulan. The planting started in 2016. Now, most of its cacao trees are more than a year old. Some of them have already started blossoming with flowers while some are already bearing fruits.
The 2nd farm (Optimus Farm) is about 20 hectares of fertile land located at Barangay Numnum. The planting of seedlings started in June 2017. In the same year, we acquired the adjacent lot with around 4.5 hectares and started planting on it in August 2017. This is our third farm, the Bumblebee Farm. This pair of farms are completely covered with cacao trees that are growing healthy by the day.
In the first quarter of 2018, we have added our area with about 36.5 hectares when we acquired a beautiful land situated at a hilly area of Ayungon, a neighbouring municipality of Tayasan. This marks the beginning of our involvement in agro-forestry as this area is part of the DENR’s protected forests. If you don’t know, cacao trees thrive really well in the forest. We have started planting in the first 6 hectares of this area in first quarter of 2018.
To date, we have planted approximately 31,000 trees in 60 hectares of land that are taken cared of by our 31 awesome farmers and caretakers. These trees will yield annually an estimate of 770 metric tons of cocoa beans in due time.
We have already laid out our plan for our future, and it definitely smells chocolate. It is our commitment to contribute to cacao development and sustainability.
