Description
The CARE (Centre of Asian Research on watEr), based on the campus of Ho Chi Minh University of Technology (HCMUT), Vietnam, develops fundamental and applied research on regional issues facing the Mekong Delta region.
CARE aims to diagnose and understand environmental changes (e.g., climate, coastal erosion, flooding, subsidence, saline intrusion, and environmental degradation) based on observations, laboratory and in situ experiments, or predictive scenarios modelling.
CARE’s objective is also to intensify training and knowledge transfer in environmental sciences, hydrology, climate change modelling, water management and human and social sciences.
Since its creation, the CARE laboratory is a joint structure bringing together researchers and lecturers from Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HCMUT), IRD, CNRS and Grenoble INP (G-INP). The CARE International Laboratory, has been renewed for a new 5-year period (2024-2028). More than 40 scientists coming from Vietnam, France, and a growing international network are part of this great dynamic.
