The Chamber was Founded in 1997, Business in the Peninsula (Pyrmont+Ultimo+Darling Harbour) aims to create a thriving, sustainable business community in the precinct. The Chamber’s vision is simple: Make Pyrmont Ultimo and Darling Harbour a place where people love to eat, work, learn, explore, shop and transact business. The Chamber advocates sustainable economic growth, engaging with all levels of government, offering support, networking opportunities, access to information and input into government policy-making. The Chamber strives to increase awareness of Pyrmont Ultimo and Darling Harbour’s small, medium and large businesses, local traders, and educational facilities. By promoting Pyrmont Ultimo as a creative business hub and a dining and tourist destination, the Chamber aims to enhance overall economic benefits for the precinct. The Chamber plays a key role in assisting the local business community in advocating sustainable economic growth. The Chamber engages with all levels of government in promoting the local area and is active in consultation with other stakeholders. As one of the most influential business groups in Sydney, the Chamber includes member representatives from media and educational facilities, restaurants, international hotels, accommodation and professional services. With strong connections with the City of Sydney council and other levels of government, the Chamber makes representations on behalf of members to advance their interests in promoting and maintaining business growth in the area. From public domain improvements to business opportunities; tourism promotion to commerce development; city planning to cultural enhancement, the Chamber is a strong representative for the local business community.
