Presented by John Hewish, the Builders Crack Guide are seminars that will guide you through understanding the building process. John will show you how to roughly estimate your build and the processes you need to put in place to try and eliminate you wasting money.
John Hewish is an independent semi-retired registered Builder and Licensed Plumber. He has had over 45 years experience in the building and construction industry. He has managed projects ranging from small-scale domestic renovations and extensions to multi-million dollar projects, with extensive knowlege of domestic and commercial building, planning regulations and comprenensive experience in client consulting and concept design. John is passionate about high quality outcomes, including the client's overall experience.
In his many years of experience in the building industry, John has seen it all - the good, the bad and the downright ugly. He sees lack of planning and communication, by both the builder and the client, as the Number 1 reason why builds fail. 45% of first designs (plans and drawings) don't ever get built, usually caused by the client and the designers underestimating the cost of the building process where a realistic budget hasn't been established from the start. There are processes that you can follow to avoid this.
John is a firm believer in educating the client on the building process. Communication and trust are the foundations of any good working relationship. He wants to arm you with as much knowledge as he can, so that you can have a happy, stress and problem free build. If you start the job right and arm yourself with as much knowledge as you can - then you can finish the job right and have a successful build.
He offers one day seminars with a maximum of 15 people to ensure that he can share his knowledge and spend time answering your questions. He offers advice, tips and a step-by-step guide on trying to successfully engage design and building professionals, arming you with his knowledge to help you navigate your way through the building process. He also offers private consultation by the hour if needed. John is aiming to improve industry standards by providing best practice advice and guidance.
