Empowering Autistic Communities & Caregivers: Building Free, Safe Spaces for Every Journey
We are a registered charity dedicated to transforming lives in the autistic community by providing free, welcoming events and building safe spaces that unite families, caregivers, and autistic individuals across New Zealand. Inspired by pioneering groups like Ausim Kids and the ASD Dads support network, we believe every caregiver deserves connection, understanding, and practical support as they navigate the autism journey.
Our big picture dream: a future where every autistic child and their whānau have free access to safe spaces for conversation, learning, and meaningful community. By working with outstanding partners—such as Ausim Kids, which celebrates neurodiversity through creative, inclusive events, and the ASD Dads group, whose powerful story of grassroots leadership now inspires a wider movement for all caregivers —we aim to foster belonging, build resilience, and break down stigma.
Our activities include:
Free social gatherings, workshops, and sensory-friendly activities for all caregivers and autistic families.
Facilitating open “Talanoa” and support circles so caregivers can share experiences, find guidance, and form lasting bonds.
Advocating for early diagnosis, equitable access to resources, and culturally-aware care for Pacific, Māori, and all communities.
Collaborating with innovative initiatives referenced in ausimkids.com and celebrating community-led efforts featured in national and local media (Stuff NZ, Wiri Trust).
As the movement grows, we envision a New Zealand where every autistic child and their caregivers have the resources, voice, and support they need—free from isolation, empowered by community, and celebrated for their unique strengths.
