Diresmikan melalui MUNAS (I) tanggal 26 Maret 1986, ASPERINDO adalah merupakan kelanjutan dari organisasi himpunan sebelumnya yang bernama HIPPARI, singkatan dari Himpunan Perusahaan dan Pengantaran Barang Lewat Udara Dalam Negeri.

Pada MUNAS VIII ASPERINDO tanggal 27 Maret 2012 dirubah dan dilengkapi menjadi “Asosiasi Perusahaan Jasa Pengiriman Ekspres, Pos dan Logistik Indonesia".
