Auckland Schools Legal Mooting (ASLM) was founded in 2021 with the aim of introducing high school students in Auckland to legal oratory (mooting) in an accurate and exciting way. Although debating is already a popular extracurricular activity, we found that high schoolers currently lack the opportunity to engage in mooting. Auckland Schools Legal Mooting seeks to provide Auckland high school students the opportunity to learn and further develop their debating skills with a stronger focus on legal thinking and argument building. Through this, we aim to foster interest in the study of law and the wider legal profession. Ideally, students will be able to take the skills they will learn through our competitions and use them to achieve greater success in law school, and as critical thinkers.
We are already in our fourth year of organising competitions for students from all around Auckland, and are excited for many more to come! We cater to over 150 students each year.
If you would like to collaborate with us or offer sponsorship, we would love to hear from you! Please feel free to reach out to us through email (further details are posted on our website). Your support is crucial in order for us to provide students with the best opportunities.
