ARDS champions the importance of language and culture in developing self-determination for Yolŋu people.

- Dhärukthu, gurruṯuy, wäŋay ga romdhu ŋalimurruny ganydjarrnyndja gurrupan. (Language, kinship, country and law gives us the strength.)
Our Yolŋu and Balanda (non-Indigenous) staff work together to make sure that Yolŋu voices are heard, and we support Yolŋu communities to increase control and understanding of mainstream services and systems.
ARDS has over 50 years experience working with Yolŋu communities in Northeast Arnhem Land. Led by Yolŋu leaders from across the region, ARDS' cross-cultural approach puts Yolŋu perspectives, skills and decision-making at the centre of our work.
ARDS also runs Yolŋu Radio. We celebrate First Nations culture, music and stories, and provide community information and education programs.
