Description

With over 250 musicians across 13 ensembles, Apollo Music Society provides the largest student-run music program at The University of Melbourne. Formerly known as Apollo Health Music Society, it was founded in 2002 by a group of second-year medical students who witnessed a visiting troupe of Portuguese medical students put on an enthralling performance at the University's Sunderland Theatre. In the years since, Apollo has flourished to offer a diverse line-up of opportunities for musicians of all abilities.

Apollo is a well-established part of the cultural life at the University of Melbourne. Membership includes students of all faculties, alumni, and even students from other tertiary institutions around Victoria, such as Monash University and RMIT.

In addition to weekly rehearsals, Apollo runs a plethora of events, from open mics to trivia nights, with each semester culminating in a charity concert showcasing the work of each ensemble.
