Since 1993, APIR has been working with governments, regulators and financial market development agencies in Asia-Pacific to provide internationally recognised financial identifiers, information services and development strategies.
The three pillars that serve as the foundation of APIR:
✔ Identification of financial products and participants through the issuance of Global Securities Market Identifiers (GSMIs) such as ISINs, LEIs, SPIN Codes and APIR Codes
✔ Information that provides a single source of truth such as fund management reference data, directories and industry memory for efficient, informed and transparent markets
✔ Development of national and industry advancement through advisory services, international standards and industry and consumer engagement
In 1998, APIR was endorsed by the Financial Services Council (FSC) as the identification and coding standard for the wealth management industry in Australia, and in 2015 APIR was endorsed by the LEI Regulatory Oversight Committee as the Local Operating Unit (LOU) for Australia.
