Founded in 2004, Anaconda was born as a direct reaction to the rise in ‘couch culture’ as Australia’s dedicated one-stop-shop for outdoor and adventure equipment.
With over 70 stores and 2,000 team members, Anaconda’s mission is to inspire and enable everyone to make memorable outdoors experiences.
Anaconda’s team also encompasses Mountain Designs – the iconic Australian adventure retailer we acquired in 2018.
Every product stitched with a Mountain Designs label has been designed with the quality and functionality required to take on the world's biggest adventure playground – the outdoors. This is paramount to who we are and embedded in our DNA. It stemmed from when founder Rick White started crafting purpose-made adventure gear for his customers in the early 70s and continues to be at the core of our operations today.
Anaconda and Mountain Designs form the Outdoor & Adventure arm of Spotlight Retail Group, alongside major retailers Spotlight and Harris Scarfe. With over 8,500 team, SRG spans four countries and over 4.2 million square feet of retail space.
