The Aikenhead Centre for Medical Discovery - ACMD - is Australia’s first collaborative, hospital-based biomedical engineering research centre.
ACMD research partners are fast tracking the development of discoveries that will transform lives.
At ACMD we are using 3D printing and other digital technologies, artificial intelligence, developing bionics and implantable devices, as well as exploring regenerative medicine to help transform patient lives.
Our collaborative approach brings together leading universities, research institutes and a tertiary hospital to take on today’s toughest healthcare challenges. It fosters deeper relationships and engagement between engineers, scientists and clinicians to address complex real-life medical challenges with cutting-edge research that will provide end-to-end results.
ACMD will be a purposed-designed Centre at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne. This Centre will bring the ACMD vision to life - to position Australia as a global leader in Biomedical Engineering.
