Adaptation Futures is the Flagship biennial event of the UN World Adaptation Science Programme (WASP). Hosted by WASP & University of Canterbury NZ and sponsoring partners, #AF2025 wil be held October 13-16 2025 when over 1,500 members of the climate change adaptation community from around the world will gather in Ōtautahi/Christchurch New Zealand and online/hybrid format to share their knowledge on the challenges and opportunities of adaptation during the 8th edition of the Adaptation Futures international conference.
With 3 plenaries and 13 parallel hybrid sessions, AF2025 will focus on particular on Oceania and learning from Indigenous community leadership on accelerating adaptation. Other pressing themes include adaptation in cities, the water-energy-food nexus, NBS, finance loss and damages, equity and justice…and in 2025 two special features include a week long Climate Arts festival across the city on the Art of Adaptation’ featuring innovative ways to communicate to inspire action and a youth talanoa - watch for the call coming soon!
